About

Hello!  A little about me: Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM.  Left on a scholarship to NYC (at the New School) for undergraduate study, then to Brooklyn College for a Master’s in Education for Students with Disabilities. After that, I spent about 4 months on the Appalachian Trail–to extricate myself from NYC and unbeknownst to me at the time, to move back to my home town in Albuquerque 😉   I love it here and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.  The sunsets, the air, the quiet, the pace of life and mountains and rivers and coyotes at night time! 🙂

I currently work for the University, supporting student and mentor teachers at a local high school, and contributing to the community schools efforts of the high school.  I am also a Special Education coordinator and a Ph.D. student.  My research is in the process of forming, but I am wanting to understand schools as complex sites, and specifically to study teachers who resist the reproductive function of schooling, to teach in a way that is informed by principles of Critical Pedagogy in the context of public schools.

I have two dogs whom I love more than anything, and an amazing partner I thank God for everyday.  Thanks for reading!  Please drop me a line, especially if you consider yourself a critical teacher in a public school! 🙂
